The Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) has given Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) approval to commence the installation of meters under the Meter Asset Provider (MAP) policy designed to address the metering gap within the AEDC’s franchise area. AEDC covers Kogi, Niger, Nasarawa States and the FCT.

AEDC in a statement by its General Manager, Corporate communications, Oyebode Fadipe, noted that the commencement of the field operations of meter asset provider policy midwifed by the NERC is a huge and visible effort on the part of the regulator to frontally address the metering gap in the sector.

According to Mr. Fadipe, “For us in AEDC, the MAP policy speaks to our overall transformation agenda for greater service delivery to our customers.

“The metering program will not only engender billing integrity & improve our revenue base, it will also cut down sharply the issue of estimated billing, which has remained a source of concern to our customers”.

He further disclosed that the AEDC is currently working with the NERC approved providers to perfect the necessary logistics associated with the commencement of the field work as stipulated by the Regulator.
