The Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) has attributed the low current being experienced in some parts of its franchise areas to low power generation by the Generation companies even as it alerted the customers of planned power supply interruption on Saturday, February 19, 2022.
Statement by the AEDC Management said while stakeholders are working to restore stable power supply as soon as possible, the proposed power supply interruption Saturday is to give room for the maintenance work being carried out by the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) in some parts of Abuja.
According to the statement, “We also use this opportunity to inform all our customers in the areas listed below that their power supply will be interrupted further on 19th February 2022 from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm.
“The affected areas are Lokogoma, Apo Mechanic Village, Apo Resettlement, Waru Village, Gudu, Gaduwa Estate, Trademore Estate, Apo Legislative Quarters, Behind Transmission Substation, Efab Galaxy Estate, Efab Sunshine Estate, CedaCrest Hospital and environs.
“The purpose of the interruption is to enable the Transmission Company of Nigeria(TCN) to carry out a maintenance exercise on the 100MVA TR4 at the Apo Transmission substation.”
Other areas to be affected include
Lugbe, Airport Road and environs, within Saturday, 19th February, 2022 and Sunday, 20th February, 2022 from 9am to 4pm on both days to enable TCN to carry out a maintenance exercise on the 33KV feeders at the Apo Transmission substation serving the areas.
AEDC expressed regret on the inconveniences that the outage would cause electricity consumers and assured them of improved quality of power supply.
