Gombe Governor Appoints Chairman, Commissioners For State Electricity Regulatory Commission

…As Gombe Assembly Confirms GOSERC Leadership Team

Gombe State Governor, Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, CON, has approved the appointment of the Chairman and Commissioners of the newly established Gombe State Electricity Regulatory Commission (GOSERC).

The appointments, with effect from 21st January 2026, were earlier forwarded to the Gombe State House of Assembly, which has since confirmed them in line with the enabling law establishing the Commission.

Conveying the Governor’s approval, the Secretary to the State Government, Professor Ibrahim Abubakar Njodi, said the constitution of the leadership team for GOSERC is in furtherance of Governor Inuwa Yahaya’s commitment to building a robust, transparent and investor-friendly electricity market in Gombe State, in line with the opportunities created by the ongoing decentralization of Nigeria’s power sector.

According to a statement by Ismaila Uba Misilli, Director-General ( Press Affairs), Government House
Gombe, the appointees are as follows: Dr. Usman Abba Arabi, mni – Chairman, Gombe State Electricity Regulatory Commission; and Engr. Sule Usman – Commissioner, Technical Regulation.

Others are Abubakar Sa’ad – Commissioner, Economic Regulation; Engr. Ahmed Ibrahim Pindiga – Commissioner, Rural Electrification; Lydia Ali, FCA – Commissioner, Finance and Administration; and Talatu Abubakar – Commissioner, Legal and Licensing

 

Governor Inuwa Yahaya expressed confidence that, with the calibre of professionals nominated to lead the Commission, GOSERC will provide the regulatory backbone required to improve service delivery, enforce technical and economic standards, protect consumers and stimulate investments in both urban and rural power infrastructure across the state.

 

The Governor also expressed believes that the Commission will serve as a critical institution in driving the state’s power sector reforms, expanding access to electricity, particularly in underserved communities, and supporting the industrialization and economic development agenda of Gombe State.
