Dutse, the capital city of Jigawa state virtually came to a standstill on Friday as dignatories from all walks of life came to witness the wedding solemnization of Salma, the daughter of Governor Umar Namadi to her heartthrob Suleiman Musa.
Salma Namadi, a medical doctor and daughter of the governor, married her lover popularly referred Abba, son of a former deputy speaker of the Jigawa State House of Assembly, who represented the Guri constituency of the state.
The wedding which took place at the Dutse Central Mosque was officiated by the Chief Imam of the Mosque Dr. Abubakar Sani Birnin Kudu attracted both serving and past governors, ministers traditional rulers, religious leaders from various parts of the country.
Described as first wedding of such political significe, the presence of many dignitaries brought life to the state as security agents had hectic time controlling the crowd that gathered at the mosque.
The roll call of the serving governors that attended the event included Abba Kabir Yusuf of Kano; Yusuf Idris (Kebbi); Mai Mala Buni (Yobe); Dauda Lawal Dare (Zamfara); Inuwa Yahaya (Gombe); and Dikko Radda (Katsina).
Former governors in attendance included Ali Sa’ad Birnin Kudu, Sen. Ibrahim Saminu Turaki and Dr. Sule Lamido all of Jigawa state ; Atiku Bagudu of Kebbi now Minister of Budget and National Planning and his Agriculture and Food Security counterpart, Sen. Abubakar Habu Kyari.
There was also the presence of the immediate past Katsina state governor Aminu Bello Masari
Former Finance Minister, Dr. Mansur Mukhtar, who stood as the Broom’s trustee, while the Chief Imam of Kafin Hausa, Sheik Abdulwahab Hassan stood as trustee for the bride.
Muktar announced the sum of N300,000 as the bride price on behalf of the groom’s family.
After the Juma’at prayers, the wedding was held at the Dutse Central Mosque Juma’at Mosque. The ceremony was presided over by Abubakar Sani, the Chief Imam of Dutse Emir of Dutse
Members of the State House of led by their Speaker, Haruna Aliyu, and were also in attendance.
