Sale Of Forfeited Assets: FG Opens Procurement Bids, Receives 355 Submissions

The federal government has kick started the bid opening for procurement process in respect of disposal or sale of properties and assets forfeited to government of the Federation.

At the bid open for the procurement, the Permanent Secretary of Ministry of Justice and Solicitor General of the Federation, Dayo Akpata, disclosed that a total of 398 Requests For Procurement (RFP) were received while 355 submissions were received.

Also, he said six were rejected but he did not give further details on why it was rejected.

Mr. Akpata who is the Chairman of the inter-ministerial committee for the disposal of properties and assets finally forfeited the government of the Federation, assured that the various processes were meant to ensure fairness and transparency.

According to him, the process is “To ensure a free transparent coordinated manner to ensure that every person is given adequate hearing as relates to it.

“Today, being the last day for submissions, you are here to ensure that what you have put in is right inside the place and to ensure that what we are doing is transparently done without fear or favour.

“In total the collation of RFP, we had 398 and the total submissions as at today is 355 while six had been rejected.”

He recalled that the committee members had already subscribed to the oath of no conflict of interests.

He said the procurement process is to ensure value for money so that the current market value of the assets and properties would be ascertained, making sure that the Federal government does not loose out in the sale.

There is already a subcommittee set up for the purpose of this valuation and I will hand over to the Committee so that they will do the work they supposed to do transparently.

A subcommittee of the inter-ministerial led by Emezie G.C, from Works and Housing Ministry leading the Subcommittee for the procurement bids opening assured that the committee would adhere strictly to the rules to ensure fair and just handling of their assignment.

He said, “Like the permanent Secretary has said we are going to go strictly on the due process requirements. We are going to be fair and just in our handling of this assignment. We want to assure you that the process will be transparent, fair and just.

“The lots will be open one after the other and record of the number and firms that participated one after the other will be taken.

“But the analysis cannot be done today because of the number of participation which is much. It will be done later by the members of the Subcommittee”‘
