
Again, the Presidency-backed candidate for the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Femi Gbabiajamila has emerged as the Speaker of 9th House of the National Assembly.
Gbajabiamila defeated his opponent, Hon. Umar Mohammed Bago who also is the same ruling political party, All Progressives Congress (APC).
Gbajabiamila garnered a total of 283 votes as against 76 votes scored by Bago after the counting of a total of 359 cast by the Honourable members of the House of Representatives.
With this development, coupled with that of the Senate earlier in the day where also the government-backed candidate, Ahmed Lawan emerged as Senate President, President Muhammadu Buhari and APC have had their way installing their choice candidates.
As the votes were being cast and counted, there were jubilation by the supporters of Gbajabiamila who apparently had concluded that he has emerged as the Speaker
