As the world marks the 2025 International Women’s Day (IWD), the Nigerian Insurers Association (NIA) has reiterated its commitment to promoting gender diversity, equity, and inclusion in the insurance industry.
In a message commemorating the global event, the Director-General of the NIA, Mrs. Bola Odukale, celebrated the resilience and contributions of women in the insurance sector and beyond. She emphasized the association’s dedication to fostering a more inclusive industry where women can thrive and advance professionally.
“This year’s IWD theme, ‘Accelerate Action,’ aligns with our mission at the NIA. We are committed to creating a level playing field for women and will continue working with our member companies to drive meaningful progress in gender equality,” Odukale stated.
She applauded female professionals in the insurance industry for their hard work and innovation, noting that their contributions have helped shape the sector. She also urged women globally to prioritize financial security through insurance, highlighting its role in building resilience, driving economic growth, and ensuring financial stability.
“As we celebrate women’s achievements, I want to emphasize the critical role of insurance in securing financial well-being. Insurance provides a safety net, protects assets, and offers peace of mind, helping women break free from financial insecurity,” she added.
Odukale further assured that the NIA would continue to champion initiatives that support women’s leadership and career advancement in the industry. The association, she said, remains committed to addressing challenges faced by women, encouraging diversity in the workplace, and collaborating with organizations that share its vision for gender equity.
The NIA, established in 1971 as the umbrella body for insurance and reinsurance companies in Nigeria, has consistently supported policies and programs that drive the growth and development of the industry.
As the world celebrates International Women’s Day, the NIA’s renewed pledge underscores the importance of collective action in accelerating progress toward a more inclusive and equitable future for women in the insurance sector.
