TCN Boosts Electricity Supply In Abakaliki With Commissioning Of New 75MVA 132/33kV Power Transformer

The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN), has boost up electricity distribution in Abakaliki following the commissioning of new 75MVA 132/33kV power transformer at its Mile 50 Abakaliki Transmission Substation in Ebonyi State.

 

With this, the TCN Enugu has boosted the substation’s capacity to 135MVA, enhancing its wheeling capacity and enabling more bulk power supply to Enugu Electricity Distribution Company for distribution to Ebonyi State and parts of Cross River State.

 

A statement by the TCN General Manager, Public Affairs, Mrs Ndidi Mbah, quoted the General Manager, Enugu Region. Dr. Thomas Inugonum, GM (Transmission), as revealing that TCN has approved the procurement of a new 60MVA power transformer to replace a decommissioned leaking unit.

 

He further assured that this would add 48MW to the substation’s capacity upon completion.

 

Mrs Mbah explained that this transformer project constitute part of the ongoing TCN-World Bank power projects aimed at further enhancing power supply in Nigeria.
