Following the Re-Branding of China Town Trade Center, the General Manager of China Town, Liu Chang’an has stated that the all brands entering the mall must be rigorously screened to ensure that Nigerians get nothing less than quality products.
The GM told newsmen recently in Lagos that the management will look forward to working with more outstanding Chinese companies to explore the Nigerian market, so that Nigeria can also enjoy quality Chinese goods and services.
Liu Chang’an who is also the Chairman of Huafei Group and the president and founder of institute of Nigeria China Development Studies at University of Lagos stated that the management is about to sign MOU with Osun state because the state is peaceful and accepts investors, he added that the factories will display their quality products here and China Town will attract to set up their factories there.
According to him, the price of goods and services will be better than what is obtained in the market as there will be promotion at the Trade Center every month.
“In China there are three African study centres, We are working with the three for them to give us good factories, for us to go back and select good factories is not easy, we are working with them to do the selection for us”
“My target is to work with Nigerians to set up more factory but for now it’s not easy, in the next three years we want to make sure that this place is hot so we can have more products and factories. I told them that we will help them move their goods in Nigeria here but on the condition that they will set up their factory here if not we won’t help them.”
Speaking on substandard Chinese goods he noted that Low quality products are fast disappearing alongside China development. “There are competitors now, no body has the monopoly of any product anymore”
“In China 20yrs ago everything is low quality, an average person can’t buy good quality products but now everything has changed due to development.”
“I want Nigeria to be like china, china had nothing and disordeliness was d but now china is doing fine. However, the government is trying, things are gradually taking shape in Nigeria.”
On culture, Recreation and food centre he said the Chinese schools and libraries in the China Town have been inaugurated and are accepting enrolleea.
“We are working closely with the Confucius institute at University of Lagos and use their teaching advantages to spread Chinese culture and strengthen relationship between the two countries.”
“We set up the school mainly for families, that school was opened two weeks ago, two Nigerians have already enrolled and we give them lectures here twice a week. Within one and half years we will have Chinese hospitals, it is one at a time.” he said
China Town is located at Ojota, Lagos, covering an area of 20,000 square meters with 300 shops and 200 Apartment units. Base on the commercial network in Lagos, China Town has always been the gathering center of Chinese People and an Independent trade marker recognized by the local government.
