The Northern Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), most virile youth organization in the North which cuts across 19 Northern States and Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja, has conferred on Anita Otubu, with the SIR AHMADU BELLO PATINUM AWARD as ‘Garkuwan Matasan Arewa Nigeria’ as well as ‘Icon of the Societal Transformation’.
Anita Otubu is the Head Project Management Unit, Nigeria Electrification Project (NEP) of the Rural Electrification Agency (REA).
They attributed the award conferred on her, Thursday, to her philanthropic gesture in promoting educational development, youth empowerment and critical infrastructure as well as her relentless effort towards upholding accountability, probity, prudent and transparent management of both men and resources to the benefits of humanity.
They also noted that the award constitute part of the Council’s conscious efforts in identifying with true patriots whose selfless contribution towards making of modern Nigeria unique and engrave in the sands of time.
Responding to the very thoughtful gesture, Otubu welcomed the NYCN Leadership and praised them for finding her worthy of the award.
She said, “the weighty words and award bestowed on me is highly appreciated, I feel highly honored and happy, in fact I don’t even have enough words to describe how I feel.”
She however encouraged the youths to keep up the good work of promoting peace and integration which is most imperative in building bridges of national unity and cohesion.
She applauded the advocacy and training as fantastic which showed that there is love in the country and she promised to continue with her good works and assured them that they will not be disappointed.
The event took place at conference room of NEP office and in attendance were the NYCN Leadership from six geopolitical zones of the country, HPMU, Communication Specialist, ICT Lead and NEP Project Secretary.
