Namadi Lays Foundation Stone For N5.5 billion College Of Nursing Science in Hadejia

…Pledged overhaul of healthcare in Jigawa

Determined to ensure adequate and qualified manpower in the health sector, the Jigawa state governor, Malam Umar Namadi has laid the foundation stone for the construction of N5.5 billion permanent site of Hadejia campus of the College of Nursing Science and Midwifery.

With the groundbreaking ceremony of the College, Jigawa now has three of such middle level training institutions. Two other ones are located in Birnin Kudu in the Central Senatorial District and Babura in the Jigawa Northwest zone.

Speaking while performing the foundation-laying ceremony, the governor described effective healthcare delivery system as one of his 12-point agenda which he presented the people of the state before voting the government into power.

He said the project is divided in to to phases, the first phase comprises structures would cost N3 billion while the second phase of the project is expected to gulpp N2.5 billion for road landscaping etc to be completed in 18 months as agreed with the construction company handling the work.

The governor explained that to that regard the present administration had targeted one general hospital for each of the 30 state Assembly constituencies and one primary healthcare facility at each of the 287 political wards of the state.

Namadi explained that “in preparation of this notable and gigantic programme we deemed it necessary and urgent to made a solid plans to ensure adequate and qualified personal in the hospitals”.

According to him “a we have almost achieved one PHC far political ward, we have also reached large percentage on the provisions of general hospitals in each of the state assembly constituencies”.

He noted that the state government esterblished one specialist hospital in each of the three senatorial zone.

“As part of our plans to have adequate and qualified personal to mans the both Primary, secondary and tertiary health institutions, government has sent over 109 student to Cyprus to study medicine in addition to many other studying medicine here in the country”.

“With the three Colleges of Nursing Science and Midwifery at Birninkudu, Babura and this one in Hadejia, I’m optimistic that very soon nurses and Midwifery workers would be available and possibly exported to other state”.

“Government is ready to provide all support and encouragement to teacher and the students in all the collages and the collage of health technology in Jahun through the provisions of morder teaching and learning afferatus”, Namadi emphasis.

The governor called on the people of the state and youths in particular to made a very good use of the opportunity.
