The Federation Accounts Allocation Committee (FAAC) meeting has again ended in deadlock without any allocation after it reconvened on Tuesday.
Although, the members declined to speak to Journalists on the cause, it may not be unconnected with shortfalls on revenue remittances from revenue generating agencies, especially the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC).
Since last month, it has at least met twice during which Journalists were invited through the ministry of finance as it is the practice to brief newsmen on the various allocations to three tiers of government for the month of July from the consolidated revenues/federation account as well as the revenues received in the previous month of June.
But each time the FAAC had met, it ended in deadlock without any allocation done, as the members of FAAC comprising finance commissioners from the 36 States of the federation, Accountant General of the Federation, among other members left in anger.
The case of Tuesday was worst as some of them were seen throwing away their entry registration tags and left the venue of the meeting angrily, frowning and declined to speak to Journalists.
Also, the Chairman of Finance Commissioners’ forum, Mahmoud Yunusa, also left angrily even when Journalists pressed him to comment, shouted “leave me alone” and jumped into the lift.
The minister of finance, Kemi Adeosun who is the Chairman of FAAC has not been attending.
The consequences of the delayed allocation had been inability of most state governments to pay workers salaries for the month of June, 2018, among other stalled programs.
FAAC is expected to meet again Thursday.
