Speakers of All Progressives Congress (APC) controlled states have elected the Speaker of the Jigawa State House of Assembly, Haruna Aliyu Dangyatin, as their Chairman.
His election took place during the. Forum’s yearly conference in Abuja at the weekend where other officials were elected to steer the ship of the conference.
Other executive members elected alongside Dangyatin during the Congress meeting included: the Speaker of the Ebonyi State House of Assembly as Deputy Chairman (South), while his counterpart from the Nasarawa State House of Assembly emerged as Deputy Chairman (North). and Speaker Ondo State House of Assembly as Treasurer
Similarly, six Zonal Vice Chairmen elected at the conference were the Speakers of Ogun State House of Assembly Oludaisi Elemide, for the South-West zone, while the North-Central zone has the Speaker of Plateau State House of Assembly among others.
The newly elected executive members of the Progressive Speakers Conference will be sworn -in on Monday, 9th February 2026.
The Progressives Speakers’ Forum was established to provide a platform for coordination amongst the State Assembly Speakers elected under the platform of All Progressive Congress (APC) for championing and promoting the philosophy of the party, working together for the victory of the party, sustainable democracy peace and progression of Nigeria.
In a congratulatory message to the speaker the Jigawa state governor Umar Namadi described his election as a well-deserved.
In a statement last night, his Chief Press Secretary, Hamisu Mohammed Gumel quoted the governor as saying that. the election of Dangyatin came at a crucial time, as the party was preparing to face the 2027 general election.
However the governor maintained that, he was confident that Dangyatin would bring his treasures of experience and commitment to strengthen coordination amongst the APC members for the party overwhelming victory at all level in the forthcoming 2027 general election.
