Jigawa Raises Committee On Minimum Wage

The Jigawa state Executive Council has raised a 10-Member Committee for the implementation of the minimum wage in the state.

The Committee, which is headed by the Head of the State Civil Service, Alhaji Muhammad Dagaceri, is charged with the responsibility of working out the acceptable and actionable implementation formula.

The committee’s composition includes Head of State Civil Service (HoS) as Chairman, Attorney-General and Commissioner of Justice; Commissioners for Finance, Budget, Local Government, Basic Education, Health and Information as members.

Other members of the committee included Special Adviser Salary & Pension and Principal Private Secretary (PPS) to the Governor as the Committee Secretary.

Rising from it’s meeting on Wednesday, the Council also approved the sum of N 883 million for the settlementof National
Examinations such as the National Examinations Council, (NECO), National Business & Technical Examinations Board (NABTEB), Senior Secondary Certificate Examinations, (SSCE) among others for the 2024.

The payment is in respect to the registration charges for 39,709 candidates, who sat for the 2024 examinations in the state.

In a statement, the State Commissioner of Information, Sagir Ahmed Musa also said the Council also approved the sum of N921.9 million as additional contract sum for the on going contract for the maintenance rehabilitation of
Auyo -Kafin Hausa road awarded to Messrs ALREN Construction Company Ltd.

Similarly, it also approved additional award of N16.1 million to Messrs. Innovative Engineering Consultant.

The continuation of support to Micro Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in the state with the sum of N400 million. This is in addition to N1 billion earlier approved by the Council for the project account.

The council also approved the Work Plan for the implementation of Immunization Plus and Malaria Progress by Accelerating Coverage and Transforming Services (IMPACT) Project as presented by the Ministry of Health.

The IMPACT Project is supported by World Bank with a total amount of One Billion, Two Hundred and Eighteen Million, Three Hundred and Sixty-Four Thousand and One Hundred Seventy-Nine Naira (N1,218,364,179.00K) only in the Work plan for the year 2024 for Jigawa State for revitalization of 161 Primary Health Care Centers in the State.

The State programme for Free Maternal Neonatal and Child Health Care (FMNCH) is now to cover free treatment for people with hypertension, diabetics and sickle-cell in all the State Government owned Hospitals across the 27 LGAs.
