The ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), in Jigawa state has warned that it might be forced to take punitive actions, including legal against any of its members found to be causing confusion and disunity within the party.

The warning is coming against the backdrop of renewed verbal altercations between the supporters of Governor Umar Namadi and his immediate predecessor and current Defence Minister, Mohammed Badaru Abubakar, which have dominated both the social and mainstream media space of late.

The State Secretary of the party, Muhammad Umar Dikuma, in a statement, expressed “grave concern” about the latest upsurge of media war, which he said was capable of derailing the ongoing reformative government of governor Namadi in the state.

He noted that the party, having reviewed the current trends of events and happenings within its ranks in the state, submitted that APC as a party of the people does not in any way remotely or closely buy the idea of creating disharmony and confusion in the government of  Namadi.

Dikuma again re-iterated the fact that both Governor Namadi and the serving Minister of Defence are in good accord and friendship, noting that the duo hoped to promote Jigawa state to excellence.

He therefore, described the media outcries that renting the space by their supporters as deliberate attempts to tarnish the image of the government, so as to take away the state government’s attention from the excellent services to the people of Jigawa state.

The party warned all recalcitrant members of the party to desist from media comments that are clearly rumours and ill-feelings that intend to cause chaos in the state so that they may reap the fruits of disharmony and discontent.

The APC scribe advised “that all voices should be geared towards creating a very good atmosphere of freedom, liberty and progress in Jigawa state so that the dividends of democracy are fully explored and exploited.”

“Once again,” he said, APC and the state government would respond ‘quickly and clearly ” to any attempt to throw the government to ridicule, disrepute contempt and or blackmail.

He added: “The APC as a party will henceforth take appropriate measures including legal actions on any popularity-seeking unpatriotic charlatans. who are hell bent on causing confusion and division among the two political leaders for their selfish and personal interests.”
