Fire Fighters Struggle To Put Out Bushfire Around MMIA

Following the Bush fire that has reportedly ravaged the RESA of 36L of the Murtala Mohammed International airport, Lagos, the fire fighting and rescue officers of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria FAAN are currently in a fix struggling to put out fire to avoid further damages.

According to a statement signed by the General manager cooperate affairs, FAAN, Mrs. Henrietta Yakubu, the bush fire started about five minutes ago and has not affected flight operations in and out of the airports,

She noted that the fire officers were immediately notified and swiftly moved to the site.

Furthermore, it stated “However, the incident did not affect flight operations as normal flight Operations continues unhindered”.

“Officers of the Fire Rescue and fire fighting services,(ARFFS) are presently on ground and fire fighting is in progress”

The Authority has informed airline operators and other airport users of the incident.

It would be recalled that the Port Harcourt international airport has experienced a similar situation barely a month ago which resulted to the temporary shutting down of the runway thereby keeping passengers stranded at the airport for several hours.
