The operatives of the Nigeria’s anti-graft agency, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), has arrested the nation’s Account General of the Federation (AGF), Ahmed Idris, for involvement in collosal fraud amounting to N80 billion.
According to EFCC, Idris was arrested in “connection with the diversion of funds and money laundering activities to the tune of N80billion” as the Commission’s “verified intelligence showed that the AGF raked off the funds through bogus consultancies and other illegal activities using proxies, family members and close associates.”
EFCC in a statement signed by its spokesman, Wilson Uwujaren, Monday further explained that the funds were laundered through real estate investments in Kano and Abuja.
