President of Christian Council of Nigeria, (CCN), Most Rev. Dr. David O. C. Onuoha, has expressed reservations that “none of the nation’s security agencies has invited the former governor of Kaduna State, Mallam Nasir El-Rufai, to account for his controversial and caustic religious remarks, currently trending in the social media.

Onuoha made the feelings of CCN known weekend, in a press statement he signed and made available to newsmen in Owerri.

It would be recalled that the former governor, had in a trending six-minute viral video, while addressing some Islamic clerics, caused a stir and concern when he gladly justified his choice of appointing Muslims to occupy top positions in the Kaduna State Government at the expense of Christians and other faiths.

In the video, El-Rufai told the clerics that the dominance by Muslims in the governance of Kaduna State had come to stay and assured that the trend had been successfully replicated at the national level with the election of Asiwaju Bola Tinubu as President and Kashim Shettima as the Vice President.

El-Rufai’s divisive position has since drawn condemnation from Nigerians at home and in Diaspora, with many calling for his arrest for trying to set Nigeria on fire with inflammatory and inciting comments.

Joining in the condemnation, the Coalition of Nigerians living in the United Kingdom described the former governor’s comments as “inflammatory, inciting, and genocidal”, and demanded that he must not be allowed to free on the issue.

On its part, the CCN through a statement by Rev. Onuoha urged the security agencies to arrest and question El-Rufai over his divisive comments in the viral video.

Part of the statement, captioned “Stop El-Rufai and his fellow haters of mankind now”, reads: “The vomit by the immediate past governor of Kaduna State, Mallam Nasir El-Rufai, on how he deliberately wasted the lives of thousands of fellow indigenes of Kaduna State, has been trending in the media for some time now.

“We are worried that ever since, the security operatives have allowed this self confessed enemy of mankind, to be roaming around free.

“A serious minded government would have taken him behind bars for crime against humanity.

“He obviously has questions to answer, not only for the murder of innocent citizens, but also for masterminding the insecurity that has brought this nation to its knees.

“If he is not saying the mind of this administration on Muslim/Muslim ticket, then the President should deliberately ensure that the leadership of the National Assembly, both the Senate President and the Speaker of the House of Representatives, goes to Christians.

“Secondly, El-Rufai should be banned from holding public office again, since he is all out to use such office or position to promote fundamentalism, bigotry, insurgency, insecurity, and threat to peace and national cohesion.

“The present administration in Nigeria, should not turn blind eyes and give deaf ears to the danger such careless outbursts by El-Fufai and his co travelers on this inhuman voyage pose to the unity and stability of this nation. It is absolutely necessary to stop him now!”
