The Islamic Movement in Nigeria (IMN) has again accused officers of the Nigerian Police Force of attacking its members who are on peaceful protest in Abuja for the release of its leader, Sheik Ibraheem Zakzaky and his wife, Zeenah.

He said members of IMN on Wednesday, April 14, 2021, came out to the streets at Banex Plaza, Wuse II in Abuja to call on the Nigerian authorities to respect the law of the land and free their leader and his wife.

“We also came out to remind the general public that In 2015, within 48hrs, over 1000 of his followers were mercilessly killed by the official of the Nigerian Army as they officially launch an attack on him in his own residence.

“They killed almost every soul in the house and set the corpses ablaze.

“They met him (Zakzaky) inside a room with his wife and some of his brave children, killed three of his sons before him as he watched.

“They keep him and his wife till date without proper medication despite a valid court order for his unconditional release and compensation for violation of his right since December 2016,” he said.

Musa narrated that the protest started peacefully “but at the point of ending the rally, the police arrived and started shooting.”

According to him, five protesters sustained serious and life threatening gun shot injury.

“We do not rely on anyone other than Allah, and even if we are torn into pieces a thousand times, we would never abandon our struggle against the illegal detention of our leader,” he insisted.
