Abducted Enugu Catholic Priest Regains Freedom

The Enugu Catholic Priest, Rev. Fr. Arinze Madu who was kidnapped at the Queen of Apostles Spiritual Year Seminary, Imezi Owa in Ezeagu Local Government Area, Enugu State has been released.

Rev. Fr. Madu, who is Vice Rector of the Seminary was abducted on Monday around 5:20 p.m. at the gate of the institution by unknown hoodlums.

Confirming his release, the State Police Public Relations Officer, Ebere Amaraizu said “The priest was released unhurt, on Wednesday” but could not give details as he said that security operatives were still in the bush.

The Catholic Diocese of Enugu on its official Facebook page, also confirmed the release of the priest, stating that “Father Madu, the kidnapped priest of the Catholic Diocese of Enugu has been released.”

It added that Father Madu “was released this (Wednesday) afternoon from the kidnappers’ den.”
