Jigawa Golden Stars Raise Alarm Over Pending Match With Gombe United

Ahead of the commencement of the second stanza of the ongoing national league scheduled for Saturday this week, the Jigawa Golden Stars Football Club have expressed concern over the delayed ruling from the Nigerian Football Federation ( NFF)) Appeal Committee regarding a case of match disruption involving the club and Gombe United.

The club’s spokesperson, Comrade Ibrahim Isyaku, stated this while addressing journalists about the newly scheduled match between the two sides.

Besides, Isyaku, who is the State Vice Chairman of Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) explained that during their initial match on March 7, 2025, in Gombe State capital, there was an incident of match disruption.

The club reported this to the Nigerian Football Federation (NFF’s) Complaints Committee. According to him, the committee fined Gombe United N2.5 million  and ordered the remainder of the match to be completed at a neutral venue, resulting in the selection of Jos Stadium.

He added, that ruling, Gombe United appealed the decision to the NFF’s Appeal Committee, for which the outcome of the appeal has yet to be made public

“However, as we prepare for the return match,  we’re concerned that the committee’s final decision has yet to be delivered.  We are, therefore calling on the NFF and the match organizers to postpone our return match until the final decision is given,” he added.

Nevertheless, Isyaku reiterated the commitment of the Golden Stars management and players to secure the club’s promotion back to the Nigeria Premier Football League at the earliest opportunity.

Also contributing , the Team’s Technical  Adviser Abdullahi Adamu, however appealed to the Club’s supporters to remain calm while awaiting the final decision of the NFF Appeal Committee on the matter.
