The Government House Correspondent of the Jigawa State-owned television station, Jigawa Television Corporation (TVC), Ibrahim Isyaku was on Saturday turbaned Sarkin Dawakin Birnin Kudu in Birnin Kudu local government.
The turbanning took place at a colour ceremony held at the palace of the Sarkin Kudu, (District Head) of Birnin Kudu, Usaini Hassan Jibrin marked by traditional music, dance, horse rides, and witnessed by dignitaries from all walks of life and corners of human endeavour, both within and outside the state.
Speaking shortly after the turbanning, the District Head, described the installation of Isyaku as the first Sarkin Dawakin Kudu a former Manager News and currently Commercial Manager of JTV as merit- based, and a recognition of his years of dedicated and selfless service to the community.
Besides, he maintained that the palace considered his moral integrity, professionalism, selfless commitment to community service, and his dedication to addressing challenges and issues of public interest, through his advocacy
He challenged the new Sarkin Dawakin Kudu to see his new position as a call to rededication and increased service to his people, irrespective of their diverse cultures, ethnic and religious biases.
“With the approval of His Highness, the Emir of Dutse, Alhaji Hameem Nuhu Sanusi, I appointed Ibrahim Isyaku as Sarkin Dawakin Birnin Kudu. I charge him to uphold the traditions, cultural norms, and regulations of the emirate in discharging his responsibilities,” the District Head declared.
“I hope he will bring his experience, skills, parental moral discipline, and pedigree to promote the Birnin Kudu Palace, offer more selfless service to the Dutse Emirate, Jigawa State, and humanity at large.”
Considered as an all-rounder in the media industry, Isyaku, a masters degree holder in Development Studies, apart from his engagements is also the spokesperson of the state’s owned football outfi, the Jigawa Golden Stars Football Club as well as a civil society activism.
Before his deployment to Government House, Isyaku has also reported the state’s parliament, political parties as well as civil service matters among other beats across the state.
The Birnin Kudu chairman commended the Dutse monarch doe approving the appointment of Isyaku for the exalted position, which he said was a reflection of the love the monarch for younger generation.
He challenged the new traditional title holder to work harder towards serving his immediate community and the state at large, noting that anything in the contrary would amount to betraying the confidence reposed in him.
Responding Isyaku, thanked the District Head and his council members for finding him worthy of this exalted position and promised to uphold the confidence reposed in him.
Isyaku also expressed gratitude to the Chairman of Birnin Kudu Local Government, Muhammad Uba, his colleagues from the media, civil society organizations, representatives from the Ningi Emirate, in the neighbouring Bauchi state and all the dignitaries who have travelled from far and wide to grace the occasion.
