- Dangote, Sir Emeka Offor Foundation also donate to Victims

The northern states governors have collectively donated the sum of N1 bilion to Jigawa state government to help alleviate the suffering of the injured victims of the petrol tanker explosion.
The National Chairman of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje on Saturday led a delegation of the National Working Committee (NWC) of the party to Jigawa state to commiserate with the government and people of the state over the October 14 petrol tanker explosion in Majia, Taura local government area.
Similarly, the Sir Emeka Offor Foundation has also donated the sum of N 150 million to the state government on behalf of the victims of the explosion.
Further, the Dangote Foundation has made a donation of N1 million to the families of the 171 people who lost their lives and N 250,000 each to the 79 injured victims currently receiving treatment in various hospitals across the four states of Jigawa, Yobe, Bauchi and Kano.
On Ganduje’s entourage were the Deputy National Chairman, (South), Chief Emma Eneuku; the party’s National Legai Adviser, Prof. Abdulkarim Abubakar Kana (SAN) and the Chief of Staff to the Chairman, Muhammad Garba.
Others included Hajia Zainab Ibrahim, Deputy National Women Leader; Bashir Usman Bichi, Deputy National Financial Secretary; Oguru Mathew, National Treasurer and Chief Donatus Nwankpa, National Welfare Secretary.
During a courtesy call on Governor Umar Namadi at Government House, Ganduje described the Majia incident as a collective pain not only on the people of the Town, state, but on the country at large.
According to the former Kano state governor, as Muslims, they should take solace in the fact that, nobody could question what Allah had destined to happen, saying what happened was not induced by anybody, but an accident that was meant to happen.
“Allah cannot be faulted because he is the all-knowing, but the swift action you took saved the day at least, its shows that government is concerned and caring about the plight its people.”
The Chairman of the Northern States Governors’ Forum, (NGSF) and Gombe state Alhaji Inuwa Yahaya who came with some of his other colleagues, said the donation was to ease the pains of the victims and assist the state government in offsetting their medical bills.
According to him, each of the 19 northern has made a pledge of N 50 million, while the Kano state government had earlier on Thursday made a donation of N 100 million on behalf of the state government to Jigawa state.
Sir Emeka Offor, who was represented by his Chief of Staff, (CoS), Sir Chris Ezike,. a retired Assistant Inspector-General of Police, said the donation was in line with the philosophy of the Foundation to always come to the assistance of the needy, whenever to the situation demands.
The Gombe governor, who was accompanied by his Bauchi state counterpart, Sen. Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed, the deputy governors of Yobe, Katsina, Kebbi, Taraba and Borno said the Jigawa incident represented the dark side of the existence.
“The purpose is to commiserate with the government and people of Jigawa because the incident is a sad history of not only Jigawa but to Nigeria as a whole and we feel at this point in time to show you our solidarity, we must support you, we must encourage you as your colleagues so that you can overcome this challenge.
“As people of faith we all agreement that whatever happens is from God Almighty and we thank Him for everything, since we cannot change it.”
