…One Still Outstanding

The ruling All Progressives Congress, (APC) has won all the 27 local government chairmanship and 282 councillorship elections held in Jigawa at weekend.
Already the chairmen-elect have been presented with certificate of returns by the State Independent Electoral Commission (JISIEC) on Sunday and are set to be sworn-in on Monday.
The Spokesperson for the Commission, Habib Yusuf, while addressing reporters in Dutse, confirmed that there was an outstanding councillorship elections in Hadejia local government area, where the collation had yet to be completed, as a result of some mix-up.
However, Accord Party (AP) and All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) made surprise showing by winning councillorship seats in some local government areas.
The breakdown of the councillorship seats won by the opposition parties indicated that Accord Party won four councillors, while APGA won one councillorship position.
Accord Party won in Aujara Ward in Taura LGA; Kanwa Ward in Jahun LG; Buruntusu Ward in Gwiwa LGA and Maiaduwa in Gagarawa LGA, while the lone APGA seat was recorded in Margadu in Guri LGA.
However, the two main opposition parties in the state, the Peoples’ Democratic Party, (PDP) and New Nigeria Peoples Party, (NNPP) did not win any councillorship seat.
APC Chairman, Aminu Sani Gumel, while reacting to the results congratulated his party members for the overwhelming victory, which he attributed to the Governor Umar Namadi’s leadership qualities.
“Going by the examplary leadership of His Excellency Governor Umar Namadi and how it is positively impacting to the life of Jigawa citizens, We have 100 percent assurance of wining all the seats”
“Jgawa people have confidence on our party and our leader Governor Namadi and his 12-point agenda designed to make Jigawa great, therefore they can not make mistake of voting party that lack manifesto or clare blueprint for the development of Jigawa state” Hon Gumel stated.
However, the chairmen of PDP and NNPP could not reached for comments as their phone lines were not going through and also not respond to the text message as at the time of filing this story.
Meanwhile it was gathered last night the chairmen-elect of the 27 local government councils would be sworn-in at 8:00 am on Monday.
