APC Sacks Ndume As Senate Chief Whip For Criticizing Tinubu

Published

The ruling All Progressive Congress (APC) has replaced the Senate Chief Whip, Senator Mohammed Ali Ndume (Borno South) with Mohammed Tahir Monguno (Borno North) for criticizing President Bola Tinubu in a TV interview.

OPTIMUM TIMES recalls that Sen. Ndume has been vocal in speaking about the effects of the current economic hardship on Nigerians nationwide as well as the insurgency in the North East. He has been agitated on the need for President Bola Tinubu to know about the current realities and initiate meaningful measures to alleviate the plights of the masses.

In a letter from the APC signed by Alhaji Abdullahi Ganduje, (Chairman) and Bashir Ajibola (Secretary),  respectively and read by Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, the party said Ndume was free to resign from the APC and join any of the opposition parties, instead of hiding under the ruling party to work against the government and the party.

After reading the party’s letter, Akpabio asked the APC Caucus of the Senate for those in support of the position of the party to say “aye” and those against it to say nay and “ayes” had it.

Therefore, Akpabio instantly asked Monguno to move forward and take the position of Ndume as a principal officer of the Senate.
