PDP NWC Activates Conflict Resolution Mechanism As Executive Officers Resign, BoT member Defects To APC

The National Working Committee
(NWC) of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), said it has activated internal conflict resolution mechanism of the party to ensure amicable resolution of all issues affecting the party.

This is coming as seven officials of the party resigned their from their respective positions while a member of the PDP Board of Trustees (BoT) Sen. Joy Imordi has decamped to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The party made known the activation of its internal conflict resolution mechanism in a statement by its National Publicity Secretary, Mr Kola Ologbondiyan on Wednesday in Abuja.

Ologbondiyan said that the party’s NWC rose from a crucial meeting where it reviewed the state of the party, with a view to creating an atmosphere that would engender stability within the party.

“The NWC assures that it has already activated the internal conflict
resolution mechanism of the party to ensure amicable resolution of all issues.

“The NWC assures all members of the party that it is taking urgent steps to ensure decisions that will strengthen our great party for the task ahead.

“This is particularly at this time Nigerians are looking up to the PDP for direction and solutions,” he said.

Ologbondiyan said against the backdrop, the NWC urged all PDP members to remain calm.

He assured members that the PDP remained stable as the NWC was
working to bring the party back to power in 2023.

Meanwhile, a member of Board of Trustees (BoT) of the Peoples Democratic Party(PDP), Sen. Joy Emordi, on Wednesday defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Alhaji Mamman Mohammed, Director-General, Press and Media of APC, announced this in a statement issued in Abuja.

The statement said the Chairman, APC Caretaker and Extra-ordinary
Convention Planning Committee (CECPC) and Governor of Yobe, Mai Mala Buni, received Emordi at a brief ceremony.

“Buni expressed delight with the decision taken by the board member to contribute to the unity of the country.

“There is need for us to join hands for the political stability and national unity of our dear country,” the statement said.

It quoted Buni saying that the coming of Emordi and other prominent politicians from the South-East to APC would promote national unity.

“The South-East is a strong political bloc and very crucial to the unity of the country, this will no doubt add to national cohesion,” the chairman said.

The statement said the senator expressed her conviction that the future of a prosperous and united Nigeria depends on the APC.

She said the leadership of the party was sincerely committed to a united Nigeria that had plans for the future generation.

It said that the former lawmaker assured the leadership of the party of her loyalty, saying that she would work for the success of the APC.

“The APC-led Federal Government is working for the South-East and this is attracting more PDP members into it,” the statement quoted Emordi as saying.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) recalled that Emordi, who represented Anambra North from Feb. 20, 2005 to March 25, 2010, resigned from the PDP on Tuesday. (NAN)
