LASU Best Graduating Student Breaks Record with 4.95 CGPA As 76 Bag First Class Honors

The Lagos State University (LASU) has announced that its best graduating student, Mr Oladimeji Shotunde graduated from Busimess Administration department with a Cummulative Gradient Point Average (CGPA) of 4.95 out of 5.0 obtainable point.

This is just as the university awarded 76 students who graduated with a CGPA above 3.5 with first class honours.

Also, Olabanjo Olusola Aanu was announced the best graduating student at the Masters level, graduating with a perfect CGPA of 5.0 from Computer Science department.

In his remarks at the award of Diplomas, First Degrees, Post Graduate Diplomas and Masters Degree on Wednesday, the Vice- Chancellor, Prof Olanrewaju Fagbohun SAN revealed that Shotunde’s CGPA is the highest ever at undergraduate level in the 37 years history of the university.

The University graduated a total of 8,959 students of the 2018\2019 graduating set in its 24th Convocation Ceremony which started on Friday, 11 December, 2020.

The Wife of Ogun State governor, Mrs Bamidele Abiodun who attended the event as a guest alongside the Special Adviser to the Governor on Students’ Affairs, Mr Adeyemi Amoo commended LASU for its strong contributions to the university education in the country and also on its recent ranking as the second-best university in the country.

According to the First Lady of Ogun State, her purpose of attending the ceremony was to celebrate with the son of a roadside mechanic, Shotunde, the best graduand who is from Ogun State “Ogun state is very proud of your achievement, she said.

However, she urged federal government and various staff unions in tertiary schools in the country to always ensure they reach compromise on issues causing disagreement so as to enjoy stable and peaceful activities on our campuses.

She said disruption of academic activities is not doing the country any good but detrimental to development.

Also Speaking, the VC whose five years tenure would end 11 January, 2021 said he was particularly happy that LASU for the past five years and despite COVID-19 pandemic had uninterrupted academic session.

He however, urged all the critical stakeholders in the university to support and cooperate with the incoming Vice-Chancellor so as to surpass the current standards of the university.
