New CIIN President, Oyegunle Seeks Support On Digital Transformation Of Institute

The President and Chairman of Council of the Chartered Insurance Institute of Nigeria (CIIN), M.O. Oyegunle has called on insurance stakeholders for financial support to actualize the digital transformation of the council.

Oyegunle made the called recently during his Investiture as the 50th president of the council in Lagos.

The new President who revealed the theme of his leadership ‘REINFORCING PROFESSIONALISM AND ETHICS IN THE NEW ORDER’ stated that his leadership will focus on six point agenda : Digital Transformation of the Institute, Reinforcement of the Relevance of Professionalism, Re-energizing the Institute’s Administrative Structure, Insurance Awareness and Youth Mentorship Initiatives, Infrastructural Development and Advocacy and Collaboration with various Associations in the Private Sector.

Speaking on the choice of the theme, he said that it is borne out of the need to establish a rolling plan which will guarantee that even in the face of current global uncertainties, the Institute will continue to meet the needs of members.

Highlighting the council’s plan in the area of digital transformation, he noted that efforts have been made by past Presidents to transform operations at the Institute adding that the fallout of the Covid-19 pandemic has made it imperative to build on past efforts in order to remain relevant.

According to the new President, the programme includes completion of the Institute’s computerization projects, continuation of the E-library project, Commencement of E-Examinations.

He added that the programme will be pursued to create new operation process and work culture at the Secretariat.

“This will be with a view to create a new customer experience. This Programme will be pursued to lay the required base for the continued relevance of the Secretariat in the new order. This is what we need to do to change our Customers experiences, operational processes and business model.”

“I want to use this opportunity to solicit for financial support from Industry stakeholders and friends to change the face of the Institute in this era of a new normal. Please oblige us when we approach you for support.”

“We are witnessing worst cases of socio-economic crises precipitated by terrorism, communal clashes and Covid-19 pandemic. This is the time to rally round governments at all levels in their responses to these challenges.”

Oyegunle who also solicited for the moral support of the industry stakeholders noted that the task ahead is their task and together they shall achieve the desired goals.
