The festering relationship between the top echelons of the Executive and the Legislature continue playing up Wednesday, as the Senate President, Bukola Saraki and the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara, stayed away as President Muhammadu Buhari signed the N9.12 trillion 2018 Appropriation Act into enabling law.
However, the Senate President and the Speaker of the House of Representatives sent their respective representatives.
While the Senate President was represented by the Deputy Senate Leader, Bala Ibn N’Alla, the Speaker of the House of Representatives was represented by the Chief Whip, Ado Dogowa.
The signing of the 2018 Appropriation Act into enabling law by the President barely after half of the financial year had been spent, marks the commencement of actual implementation of the nation’s budget.
The budget signing was done within the President’s office in the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
