A new competition offering ₦5 million in grants to senior citizens has been launched by Heirs Insurance Group, aimed at helping retirees and soon-to-be retirees fulfil personal goals after leaving paid employment.
The competition was disclosed in a statement by the company. The Heirs Insurance Retirement Dream Competition is open to Nigerians between the ages of 50 and 75, who are retired or approaching retirement, and have previously worked in paid jobs.
It stated that Entrants are required to submit a one-minute video describing a dream or plan that would improve their retirement life.
According to the organisers, three winners will be chosen: the first-place winner will receive ₦2.5 million, the second ₦1.5 million, and the third ₦1 million.
Applications opened on August 6 and will close on September 12, 2025, with winners expected to be announced in October. Entries are to be submitted via the company’s website.
The competition is linked to the newly formed Heirs Insurance Retirees Club, a platform designed for networking, health and financial guidance, and other support services for people in retirement. Membership is open to eligible retirees through the same website.
Heirs Insurance Group which includes Heirs General Insurance Limited, Heirs Life Assurance Limited and Heirs Insurance Brokers is part of the Heirs Holdings investment company. The group operates across Nigeria, offering both corporate and individual insurance services.
While the company says the initiative is part of its wider effort to “improve lives and transform Nigeria,” industry observers note that such campaigns also serve to raise brand awareness in an increasingly competitive insurance market.
