
Boko Haram has reportedly returned the abducted school girls from the Government Girls School, Dapchi, Yobe state.
TVC News correspondent in Damaturu, Yobe state, said the girls were dropped off by Boko Haram suspects and handed over to their parents.
He however, could not ascertain the actual number of girls released as at press time.
Surprisingly, the correspondent said troops were withdrawn from military checkpoints in Dapchi, shortly before the release of the girls.
It was also reported that there was no single gunshot, suggesting that there may have been negotiation between the government and boko haram leadership.
Boko Haram on Wednesday returned the abducted Dapchi schoolgirls kidnapped from the Government Girls School in Yobe.
Another account of the release by DAILY POST has it that the insurgents group returned the girls in nine vehicles, an episode similar to how they were taken away.
The Correspondent gathered that there was confusion in the area as members of the community scampered upon sighting the vehicles.
It is being speculated that five of the girls may have died while in custody of the insurgents.
Optimum Times recalled that President Muhammadu Buhari had while on a visit to Dapchi, assured the parents of the abducted school girls that they would be rescued or released.
However, the possibility of release of the remaining Chibok girls also abducted by Boko Haram remains slim.
Also, Minister of Defence last Saturday assured Nigerians that Dapchi schoolgirls abducted by Boko Haram terrorists would regain their freedom.
