Advans La Fayette Microfinance Bank has announced the appointment of Elvis Oheneba as its Acting Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, making him the first African to assume the top leadership position within the Nigerian subsidiary of the Advans Group.
According to the statement from the bank’s management, The appointment underscores the bank’s commitment to grooming internal talent and advancing homegrown leadership within its ranks.
Oheneba, who brings more than 15 years of experience within the Advans network, steps into the role following a steady rise through the organization’s leadership pipeline.
Starting as a Branch Manager in 2012, Oheneba has held several key positions at the bank, including Chief Business Strategy Officer and Head of Network Operations.
In 2023, he was named Deputy CEO, where he played a central role in implementing transformative strategies that solidified the bank’s position in Nigeria’s microfinance landscape.
“Assuming this leadership role is a great honour,” Oheneba said in a statement. “I remain committed to the mission of Advans La Fayette to deliver inclusive financial solutions that empower individuals and small businesses across the country. Together with our talented team, we will continue to drive innovation and impact.”
As Acting MD/CEO, Oheneba will steer the institution through its next phase of growth, with a strategic focus on deepening financial inclusion, improving customer experience, and accelerating digital transformation to better serve its clients.
