JUST IN: Tinubu Appoints Former NIA Chairman, Omosehin As Commissioner for Insurance

President Bola Tinubu has announced the appointment of Mr. Olusegun Ayo Omosehin as Commissioner for Insurance.

This decision was disclosed in a statement signed by Chief Ajuri Ngelale, Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity.

Accompanying Omosehin’s appointment are other key nominations to the boards of both the National Insurance Commission (NAICOM) and the Security and Exchange Commission (SEC).

Also, Ms. Halima Kyari, Mr. Olawoye Gam-Ikon, and Dr. Usman Ankara Jimada have been appointed to pivotal roles within NAICOM, each tasked with distinct responsibilities aimed at ensuring the sector’s integrity and stability.

Simultaneously, the SEC board sees the inclusion of professionals such as Mr. Mairiga Aliyu Katuka and Mr. Emomotimi Agama, who will serve as Chairman and Director-General respectively.

The composition of these boards reflects Tinubu’s commitment to assembling a diverse array of talent capable of steering Nigeria’s financial regulatory agencies towards greater effectiveness and transparency.

Furthermore, Tinubu underscored the importance of fostering trust and confidence among policyholders and the general public in the insurance sector’s operations.

Looking ahead, Tinubu expressed his anticipation for all members of the SEC board to leverage their wealth of experience and competence towards advancing the commission’s core mandate of developing and regulating the capital market.
These appointments signify a concerted effort by the Tinubu administration to fortify Nigeria’s financial regulatory framework, ensuring it remains resilient and responsive to the evolving needs of the economy and its citizens.
