The Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu has commissioned a 500 seater Computer-Based Training (CBT) center for the Lagos State University (LASU).

This is coming after 38years of the varsity’s existence under a Public–private partnership arrangement between the university, Providus Bank and Clayhall Properties Ltd.

Sanwo-Olu who was represented by his Special Adviser on Education, Mr. Tokunbo Wahab assured LASU management of the state’s support urging them proffer solutions through research towards addressing the challenges of the state.

Speaking at the commissioning of the Computer-Based Training Center, LASU VC said “This event is unique for LASU”

“LASU for more than 38years old, we could not boost for a CBT center that will meet the test of scrutiny, jamb goes on we are not involved in that process because we don’t have the facility and putting together the funds that will get us there was a challenge.”

He narrated “When I met the Managing director of Providus Bank , I said to him, we are looking for a partner who believes in LASU and its student, he asked what are those things you want in a partner we will deliver, I told him to invest in this University, a long term investment and he said give me your ideas. One of the first thing that came up because we do recognize the fact that government can not do it alone and this is the outcome of that discussion.”

The Managing Director of Providus Bank who expressed the happiness of the company for their involvement in achieving the project noted that the main aim of the project is to enable the students tested in atmosphere that measure up with world-class facility standard.

He added that the CBT center will still be relevant for the next 25years and can be compared to the most modern CBT centers available in Nigeria.

“Profit was never an objective when we started this journey, profit at the end might come but the objective is to have a place to conduct examination and also make them proud of being a student of this university” he said.

In his optimism, the Chairman, Clayhall Properties LTD, said ” I believe this center will open up new world of Hope and opportunities for students of LASU.”
