Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) has explained cause of power supply disruptions in some parts of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), attributing it to “faulty breaker”, which it hopes would be rectified Saturday by Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN).

This is even as it apologised to the residents of the affected areas, asking them to exercise patience till normalcy of electricity supply is restored.

AEDC General Manager, Corporate Communications, Oyebode Fadipe, had Friday night expressed concern over inability to rectify the faulty breaker and the consequent power supply disruptions to the affected areas.

According to him, “Contrary to our expectation, the following feeders from Kukwaba Transmission Station will experience load shedding pending replacement of the faulty breaker.”

The feeders include: “L31(Games village, national stadium, Jewel Apartments, Indoor Complex Human Right Radio & environs) L32 (Trademore Estate Lugbe, Lugbe Across, Lugbe Zones 1to 9, Aco & Aso Estates etc) L33 (Durumi District, American Int’l school, VIO office, Christ Embassy etc), L35 (Railway station) and L36 (Idu industrial, Kuchingoro & karmajiji villages coca Cola etc)

“Also, affected are: Trade Mall, Lugbe, Pyakasa, Sun City, Moccido Housing estate, Brains and Hammer, African University of Science and technology etc.”

In an earlier apology over the power disruptions, Fadipe said, “This is to apologize to our esteemed customers in Galadimawa, part of Lokogoma, Sun City Estate, National Stadium, Human Rights Radio, Games Village, Machido Estate and surrounding areas over the power outage they are experiencing.

“This is due to a technical fault affecting the 33KV feeder serving the affected areas from Kukwaba Transmission Substation.

“We appeal for the patience of our affected customers and assure them that appropriate measures are currently being taken by the technical crew of the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) to rectify the fault and ensure restoration in the shortest time possible.”
