Thousands of APC members from the Ringim/Taura Federal Constituency in Jigawa state have called on the Commissioner for Special Duties and Humanitarian Affairs, Auwalu Danlladi Sankara, to run for the House of Representatives in the upcoming 2027 general election.
The call was made by various groups from across the constituency’s 20 political wards during a weekly Government-Citizens Engagement forum held in Taura local government.
Spokesman for the community Ibrahim Sani from Majia Ward stated that their support for Sankara stems from a desire to have a capable and competent representative who can attract more national projects and democratic dividends to the area.
He noted that, over the years, their elected officials to the National Assembly have failed to deliver tangible results. This time, he said, they were seeking a candidate with a proven record of public service, compassion, and a commitment to any responsibility entrusted to him.
“As a Commissioner for Special Duties, Sankara has distinguished himself through excellent performance. This has earned him the confidence of Governor Namadi, commendations from the State Executive Council, and widespread popularity, leading him to be celebrated as ‘Jakadan Alkhairi’, (Goodwill Ambassador) across the state,” Sani said.
He promised to collaborate with other patriotic constituents to persuade Hon. Sankara to accept their demand, even if it requires appealing to the governor and other political stakeholders in the state.
Similarly, Sani Shawai from Taura declared their readiness to raise funds to purchase the nomination form for Hon. Sankara in 2027. He described the effort as a “rescue mission” to free the constituency from what he called poor representation.
“This is a rescue mission. We are determined to liberate the constituency from amateur politicians who are not care to the people’s plight and have failed to emulate the good leadership of Governor Malam Umar Namadi,” Shawai stated.
During the town hall meeting, the venue was filled with supporters chanting for Hon. Sankara, while the incumbent House of Representatives member, Hon. Sa’adu Wada Taura.
