The Executive Governor of Anambra State, Chief Dr. Willie Obiano has reaffirmed his doggedness in ensuring that the affairs and well being of his people is paramount to his administration. This he recently showed through his prompt response in cueing in to the Social Investment Programmes, making Anambra not only the First to kick Start Home Grown School Feeding Programme in Nigeria and still tops till date, but also the first to start Cash Transfer in the South East.


The programme which will take place in 6 Local Government namely; Anambra East, Ayamelum, Dunukofia, Awka North, Orumba South and Ihiala is meant to pay a monthly Stipend of N5000 to the poorest and Vulnerable people in the State, with the aim of analyzing their problem and proffer a solution and also building their capacity in order to improve their Standard of living. Over 13,000 household have been enumerated to partake in this programme and enumeration is still on-going, with over 100 Facilitator to deliver the payment directly to the door step of the beneficiary.


Flagging off the programme on the 27th of September 2017, at IDK Learning centre, Awka, during a two day step down training programme for local government cash transfer facilitators, His Excellency Chief Dr. Willie Obiano, the Executive Governor of Anambra State who was ably represented by the Permanent Secretary Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development, Mr Azuka Offormata reaffirmed the willingness of the State to participate in any affair that will benefit the well being of its people. ‘’


His Excellency is so much interested in the affairs of its people, he takes interest to the plight of his people, that is why the State was the first State in the South East to kick start this programme “ he said. Advising the facilitators to take the programme very serious and adhere to the rudiments of the programme to make sure the beneficiary of this project gets their stipend.


Also speaking at the event, Lady Chinwe Iwuchukwu Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Donor Agencies and also Deputy Focal person Social Investment Programmes Anambra State, commended the executive Governor for his unalloyed support in all the Social Investment Programmes, stating that he is ever ready to support any programme that will be of benefit to his people. She also assured the full readiness of the team to commence this payment immediately, probably by next month.


Mr Kola .A. Solomon, National Training Officer appreciated the Governor for his warm welcome, commending his doggedness to ensure that Anambra becomes the first to start the programme in South East. Assuring the support of the National, in making sure that the payment starts next month October.
