—As ABU VC says Melaye graduated
Senate President, Bukola Saraki and Senator Dino Melaye have defended selves before the Senate Committee investigating allegations of importing bullet proof range rover SUV car and fake certificate scandal leveled respectively leveled against them.
Sen. Saraki maintained that he was not an importer neither had he given any money to any importer to import the said car for him as evidence had shown that there was nowhere in the importation documents where his name was mentioned.
He explained that all cars given to the senators are imported by agents on behalf on the National Assembly and distributed to them, adding that he had not gone to wharf for the clearance of any imported car meant for him.
On his part, Senator Melaye who was accused of not have graduated from the Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), explained that he actually did and even worn a national award during his service year.
The Vice Chancellor of Ahmadu Bello University, ABU, Professor Ibrahim Garba corroborated this claim this on Monday that Senator Dino Melaye, APC, Kogi West graduated from the Institution in 2000.
When Prof. Garba appeared before the Senator Samuel Anyanwu, PDP, Imo East led Committee on Ethics, Privileges and Public Petitions, he told the Senators that Senator Melaye graduated from ABU with a third class degree in Bachelor of Arts( Honours) in Geography.
The Senate on Tuesday last week, commenced an investigation into the allegation that Senate President Bukola Saraki went on a vengeance mission against Customs Comptroller General, Col. Hameed Ali after the agency impounded a bulletproof SUV valued at N298 million imported into the country by him because of his alleged refusal to pay the Customs duty of N74 million that was expected to be paid on the car.
