Herdsmen/Farmers Clashes: NEC To Visit Taraba, Zamfara, Adamawa

A subcommittee of Nigeria’s National Economic Council (NEC) working group on resolution of violence between herdsmen and farmers has been mandated to visit the most volatile states.

The Vice President of Nigeria, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo presided over the meeting of the nation’s National Economic Council (NEC) Working Group on resolution of the clashes between Herdsmen and Farmers.

The mandate given to the subcommittee formed the high point of the decisions taken at the meeting.

The Sub-Committee is to visit frontline States, and hold consultations with stakeholders on how to end the conflicts.

The states to be visited include Taraba, Zamfara and Adamawa to understand the different conflict dynamics and develop long-term solutions.

The meeting was attended by Governors of Zamfara; Ebonyi; Kaduna; Plateau; Adamawa; Deputy Governors of Oyo and Benue, and Agriculture and Interior Ministers.
