About 12 persons are reportedly dead while at least 50 persons are receiving treatments for various degrees of injuries sustained following multiple bomb blasts in Maiduguri, Nigeria, Wednesday evening.
The deadly bombings occurred around Muna Garage along Mafa Dikwa road in Maiduguri, Borno state. It occurred at about 17.05 Wednesday evening.
The latest bombings occurred few days after the Boko Haram leader Abubakar Shekau talked tough in a new video to re-establish his presence.
The Information officer National Eemergency Management Agency (NEMA), North East Zone, Abdulkadir Ibrahim, in an early report said that the Emergency Response Team (ERT) from the Agency, Borno State Emergency Management Agency (BOSEMA) and Red Cross responded to a suicide bombing incident.
He explained that the Team responded to 65 injured persons who were given first aid and transported to hospitals, adding that 10 others lost their lives.
According to the statement, preliminary reports indicated that four female suicide bombers were responsible for the blast while other reports attributed it to two bombers.
There is uncertainty on the exact number of casualties as some reports indicated that it may have increased to 12 just as some injured persons were said to have been treated and discharged.
