Ajayi Crowther University Parents Forum Gives Award To Principal Officers, Names Secretariat After Vice-Chancellor

The Ajayi Crowther University Parents and Sponsors Forum [ACUPAF] has expressed happiness with numerous developmental projects in the University.

As a way of appreciating and encouraging the Management team of the University, the Forum gave awards to Principal Officers of the University in recognition of the massive infrastructural and academic developments in the institution.

Speaking during the forum’s meeting, last Saturday, at the new Students’ Common Room in the University, Chairman of the body, Ven. Dr. Moses Adetunmbi, said that forum was pleased with the positive things happening on campus, and decided to give awards to the Vice-Chancellor and members of the Management team as a way to appreciate and encourage them.

He also announced that the body has   resolved to name its secretariat after Rt. Rev. Professor Dapo F. Asaju, the current Vice-Chancellor of the University.

He said the forum would rebuild its Secretariat, after which it will be named Bishop Asaju House, in honour of the Vice-Chancellor for the tremendous work he has done in the University.

Before the meeting commenced the vice-Chancellor had taken the parents on a facility tour of the campus, and showed them developments that have occurred since their last meeting in February, 2018.

He showed them new buildings for Faculty of Social sciences, office blocks for Department of Media and Communication Studies, Faculty of Engineering workshop, renovation in the hostels to provide greater access to water for the students, Faculty of Natural Science extension, Shepherds Inn, Nursery, Primary and secondary school, ACU water factory PET bottle blowing machine, newly tarred roads, and the Students’ Common Room.

The parents were impressed that all those projects were done within one year, in spite of paucity of funding.

In his address the Vice-Chancellor gave them an update on academic and physical developments in the campus and urged them to also monitor their children and wards.

He said the students were being distracted by their mobile phones, and advised parents not to buy expensive phones for their children.

After an interactive session with the parents, a decision was reached to make the students compulsorily go to the library to study at 7-8.30 p.m. every day.

The biometric clocking machine would be used to monitor compliance. It was also agreed that there would be no Easter break since the students had their last semester break extended on account of elections in the country.
